Have you felt overwhelmed with all that has been happening in the world lately? If so, know that you are not alone, we feel it too. These feelings of no control can easily take over and completely consume your self-esteem. Today, we want to help you prevent that. As entrepreneurial leaders, our team here at Xcellent ATL knows first-hand the impact a weak mentality can inflict on an individual’s career and the success of a business. Although you may feel unprepared, overwhelmed, and frankly, small compared to others, you need to understand your value. You are intelligent; you are capable; you are destined for great things.
Take stock of what you bring to the table. As a leader, everything that you do impacts everyone around you. No matter where you are on your journey to success, you make a difference. Are you an extrovert that can quickly bond with others? Great! You will always be the person that your team members come to, whether they are struggling and need help or are succeeding and want to celebrate. Are you an introvert? Fantastic! You see what others don’t and can provide neutral feedback to your team members that will help them strengthen and grow their skills.
Your potential holds your value. Your worth comes down to two things: your values and the amount of knowledge that you have to share. If you worry about your role as a leader, then we suggest you maintain a student mentality. Jump at every opportunity to learn something new or to sharpen a skill that you haven’t used in a while. You are worth far more to a team or an organization if you are always at the top of your game. Only when you are committed to your self-development will others fall behind you.
Open your eyes. The world has been turned upside down. As a business leader, as a person whose actions impact others, it can be easy to let your attitude slip. Our advice – DON’T. Look around you. Look at how far your reach goes. The time to stay vigilant and self-assured is now. We aren’t suggesting that you allow your ego to take over, but we do want you to understand how much of a positive impact you make on others when you behave like an exceptional leader.
As we said earlier, it is entirely understandable to feel overwhelmed with all that is happening in the world. However, the last thing that you need to do is underestimate your value. You are a leader. You are someone that has the power to help or hinder others. The question is, which way will you sway? Will you be a positive influence that uplifts your team members, or will you allow self-doubt to consume you and allow your negative attitude to seep onto others? You are in charge of your attitude, so the choice is solely in your hands. These tips have helped our team members at Xcellent ATL stay committed to ourselves and our roles as leaders. Hopefully, they will help you do the same!
